ABOUT THE EVENT

On September 4, the Embassy of Italy in Doha, in partnership with the Qatar National Library, inaugurated the “Month of Italy – Art and Creativity: Journey to Italy”, as part of the Qatar Reads program. Dedicated to children aged 3 to 13, the initiative engages over one thousand families across Qatar through a creative, interactive journey into Italian culture.

For the “Month of Italy”, children received Arabic translations of iconic Italian children’s books, including Pimpa and Geronimo Stilton, published thanks to a special program of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. These volumes, alongside comics, activity sheets, and creative games, invite young readers to explore Italian history, traditions, and imagination in a playful and accessible way.

The opening event featured readings in Italian, English, and Arabic, marking the first time a “third language” was included in the program, a choice that was warmly welcomed by both organizers and participants for its originality and inclusivity.

The closing day of the “Month of Italy” is scheduled for September 27 at Msheireb’s Bin Jelmood House, and it will bring together over one hundred children and their families. On this occasion, participants will also the opportunity to visit the exhibition MARMO | MARBLE. Carving the Future, currently hosted in the same venue, further strengthening cultural connections and offering young generations a multifaceted experience of Italy’s artistic heritage.
